The World without the Government

If there was no government we would be in complete anarchy.  Just look at the book Lord of the Flies.  In this book these kids end up in situation in which there is no government.  By the end of the book most of the kids on the island have become complete savages and are trying to kill one of the kids.  To me this is a representation of how the world would turn out without some kind of governing authority to help guide and protect us.  The world would be in complete chaos, until some sort of dictatorship would form from someone who is powerful, has a lot of weapons, and has a lot of supporters.  Crime will also increase with a lack of authority to stop it.
We created the government for a reason.  We wanted protection, order, laws, and punishments for criminals.  You might not have known you wanted that, but trust me you do.  The other option is anarchy and that is not even really an option.  We wanted criminals to be punished and to be protected from them.  We wanted to have certain rights protected.  That is why a government was created.  We did not want to live like savages, but wanted freedoms too.  We created a government, but limited its power through the Constitution and the Ten Amendments.
For these reasons I believe the world is better with the government than without. The government gives us so many things.  It gives us currency so that we can buy items.  It regulates products and makes sure they are safe.  It sets building codes, provides highly regulated water, and does so much more.  Without the government we would not have drinking water, currency, and safe products.  With nothing to regulate companies they could produce unsafe products and set prices of products.

  1. I agree with you saying the world is better with a government than without. It's better than not to have regulated companies and water and everything else you mentioned. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the currency thing because money is problematic in my opinion.

  2. You started off with a great example. Lord of the Flies shows how bad it could get if we had no government. And in this world we want protection, order, and laws to stop people from harming each other.

  3. I also used the book The Lord of the Flies as a reference. Great minds think alike. I would disagree with something though. Before there was government there was still drinking water or humans as a species would not be alive right now. What I think you meant to say was that it would not be as easy to access as it is now.
