Petoria
Petoria is an Authoritarian government in which Peter is the dictator. He rules over his property and enjoys the freedoms it brings him at first. One of the benefits Peter enjoys because he is a "government official" is diplomatic immunity. Peter especially enjoys this one by taking what he wants and by doing illegal acts. The second benefit Peter enjoys is the ability to annex property by "invading it". One example of him doing this is when he takes his friend's pool.
Although Peter does enjoy owning his own country, the consequences of owning one start to catch up to him. One of the consequence of Peter not being a part of the United States of America anymore is that his children can not go to public school, which Peter does not seem to care that much about. Another consequence of him not being a part of USA is that he no longer receive town water, town sewage, and electricity. Finally, the third consequence of not being a part of the USA is that eventually he is not allowed to leave his "country" because they have set up a blockade around his house to stop him from invading the USA. This eventually leads to Peter being threatened by the US army. The army states that he has to surrender or they will blow up his "country". In the end due to these threats Peter succumbs to the USA and is forced to give up Petoria.

The Ratification of the Constitution
It was difficult to ratify the Constitution for many different reasons. The first reason is that the people thought that the delegates in Philadelphia that created the Constitution exceeded their congressional authority. The second reason is that the delegates in Philadelphia only represented only the elite and not poor or uneducated. The third reason gave to much power too the central government at the expense of the states. Finally, the fourth reason is the Constitution had failed to adopt a bill of rights which would have protected the people from the government.
The group of people that opposed the Constitution were the Anti-federalists. They brought the issues above to the people using the newspaper and pamphlets. The group that defended the Constitution was called the Federalists. They fought back by also using the newspaper and pamphlets. They successfully put down most of the criticism proposed by the Anti-federalists. The main problem was that the bill of rights had not been accepted into the Constitution yet. The Federalists countered this by stating that once the Constitution was ratified a bill of rights would be created.

The Articles Of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation
failed for many different reasons. First
of all there was not real government. The government was a "firm league of
friendship." (Article III) A firm
league of friendship is not going to hold together a group of mostly independent
governments with differing rules. (Article II)
The few rules that government did have at that point could not be
enforced because the government did not have any kind of military. Back then all the government could do is make
treaties and declare war. (Article VI
& IX) Our government needed more power in order to stay in control of the
states. Each state had only one
controlling vote in the government. This
poorly represented all the people within that state. (Article V) The states were too independent and laws in
each state differed by a lot which could confuse traveling people. Finally, the last reason the government
failed is because it could not tax its citizens. This caused the government to lack the money
needed to run. (Article VIII) The Articles of Confederation failed because it had a weak government.

The World without the Government
If there was no government we would be in complete anarchy. Just look at the book Lord of the Flies. In this book these kids end up in situation in which there is no government. By the end of the book most of the kids on the island have become complete savages and are trying to kill one of the kids. To me this is a representation of how the world would turn out without some kind of governing authority to help guide and protect us. The world would be in complete chaos, until some sort of dictatorship would form from someone who is powerful, has a lot of weapons, and has a lot of supporters. Crime will also increase with a lack of authority to stop it.
We created the government for a reason. We wanted protection, order, laws, and punishments for criminals. You might not have known you wanted that, but trust me you do. The other option is anarchy and that is not even really an option. We wanted criminals to be punished and to be protected from them. We wanted to have certain rights protected. That is why a government was created. We did not want to live like savages, but wanted freedoms too. We created a government, but limited its power through the Constitution and the Ten Amendments.
For these reasons I believe the world is better with the government than without. The government gives us so many things. It gives us currency so that we can buy items. It regulates products and makes sure they are safe. It sets building codes, provides highly regulated water, and does so much more. Without the government we would not have drinking water, currency, and safe products. With nothing to regulate companies they could produce unsafe products and set prices of products.
